As the second-generation owner of Fields Construction, Jennifer is the creative lead for the building team on every project. Growing up on and off the job sites, her passion for building and creating found a home when she officially began her career in the family business upon graduation from Virginia Tech. The urge to build runs in the Fields blood! Today, Jennifer works personally with each client, leading them through the building process, from pre-design to owner turnover. She helps translate each client’s vision into a top-quality home, tailored and customized exactly to their needs. Adding energy-efficient, high quality housing to the local community is something she takes pride in.
As a local community advocate, Jennifer actively participates on the boards of the Roanoke Regional Homebuilders Association and the North Roanoke Rec Club, as well as her children’s school PTA. When not on a job site or volunteering in the community, you will find her anywhere and everywhere outside in the Roanoke Valley with her husband Nathan, and their children Blair and Tyler.
A native of North Roanoke and a graduate of Roanoke College, Nathan’s roots in the area run deep. With over 20 years in new construction and real estate sales, he has had the opportunity to help many in the Roanoke Valley realize their housing goals. Nathan oversees the process from sales to production. His pre-construction services include building and maintaining relationships with clients as well as communicating and working them through the initial steps of the process. Whether it’s new land development, lot procurement for your custom home build, or getting you settled in one of our new developments, Nathan will work with you to find the perfect setting for your future.
When not on a project, Nathan is usually found on a local golf course or basketball court, or pacing the sidelines at one of his children’s soccer games.
Todd, possibly born gripping a hammer, has over 25 years of experience leading crews in new home construction. His focus on customer service and cooperation among our trade contractors helps Fields Construction finish homes with excellence and on time. Todd’s expectation of quality construction from our partners keeps every project running smoothly and allows us to deliver a top-quality project. His broad knowledge of all things home makes him an indispensable asset to the company. He constantly inspires the Fields team with his dedication to the art of construction.
When not on a project site, he’ll have his hands in the dirt of one of his home gardens. Life stays busy and happy in his Salem household with his wife, Anna, and four active children.
Tyler joined his father Todd early on at Fields Construction as a part-time helper during his high school summers. Those summers quickly lead to a full-time position learning about and assisting in all of the day-to-day activities on an active job site. Today, Tyler is responsible for the visual scope of each project and helps keep each new home build running smoothly.
Outside of his continuous learning about the craft of building, you might catch him on one of his locally broadcast podcasts discussing rising stars in the area sports scene, or buffing up at the gym.
For 20 years, Laura has handled all the finances and accounting for Fields Construction. Fortunately, attention to detail is her specialty. She keeps the lights on and everyone on track through her kind, clear, and prompt instruction.
Laura and her husband Dean also grow some of the best flowers and produce in Botetourt County. Nearly three seasons of the year, you can find her on the weekends at the Botetourt Farmers Market selling their bounty. Entrepreneurship is a family trait with Dean and their son’s commercial cabinetry installation business, and their daughter’s Fincastle-based plant shop.
In 1992, Peter left a commercial construction management career to start Fields Construction, Inc. along with his wife, Vivian. Peter quickly established a reputation for high quality, value engineered, custom and semi-custom design/build construction. Over the course of the next 30 years, he cultivated a construction environment based on honesty, integrity, and quality craftsmanship. Peter’s emphasis on quality and customer service continues to be the foundation of Fields Construction today.
While he has retired from the homebuilding part of the team, Peter can still be found working on land development projects with Fields Construction. An alumni of Virginia Tech, he remains active in the Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association and the Home Builders Association of Virginia. His true passion lies in community service through his involvement with the Rotary Club of Roanoke Valley, Kids Soar of Roanoke, and Bonsack United Methodist Church. When not walking a piece of land or volunteering his time, he and Vivian can likely be found patronizing a local bakery or coffee shop, while planning their next road trip adventure.
